Study manual:
The MATE Seminars Group and Health Design and Pricing study manual begins with a short discussion of exam studying advice, which includes a suggested study schedule. This is followed by the two main sections of the manual: a detailed outline and a condensed outline.

The detailed outline is a summary of all required readings for the exam, written in outline format and emphasizing the most important pieces of each reading. Having this outline already prepared increases the time that can be spent committing the material to memory. The outline is written in sufficient detail to minimize the need to reference the syllabus source material and includes examples of how the SOA tests the material.

Following the detailed outline is a condensed outline of lists. These lists are focused on the main topics of the syllabus and are a very effective studying tool for the final weeks before the exam. Many exam questions ask candidates to recite these lists.

Note cards:
The MATE Seminars Group and Health Design and Pricing note cards contain the lists from the MATE study manual’s condensed outline in flashcard format for faster memorization. These lists are focused on the central and often-tested topics of the syllabus and are a very effective studying tool for the final weeks before the exam.

An electronic ANKI file is included, to use the note cards on a mobile device. Request this file from the MATE team using this request form, please include your proof of purchase and what exam you are taking.

Practice problem set:
The MATE Seminars Group and Health Design and Pricing practice problem set contains 60 exam-style questions which will help candidates prepare for the types of questions that will be asked on the exam. A suggested solution is included for each question.

A spreadsheet containing the data tables used for each math problem is included with your purchase. Request this file from the MATE team using this request form, please include your proof of purchase and what exam you are taking.

The primary focus is on mathematical topics. There are also some questions and parts of questions on non-mathematical topics. The problem set includes both original questions and past SOA exam questions that are relevant based on the current syllabus.

These practice problems are some of the problems that will be reviewed at our exam preparation seminar. A larger set of practice problems will be provided there.
